People who do not keep or haven't kept Shabbat since childhood sometimes see it as a day of restrictions. But at Beth Sholom, we see it as a day of joy, community, study, prayer and music — a time when we set aside our weekday concerns to open our minds and hearts. Join with us for our beautiful Sanctuary Service, or once a month for Shabbat Beth Sholom, when we put the Shabbat back in Saturday. Special festival services or times may apply - please check the listings.
Member or not, you won’t be the only one who doesn’t read Hebrew, who is connecting with your roots and traditions for the first time in your memory or who could practically lead the service yourself — our Shabbat service is meant to welcome and stretch us all. The service begins at 8:45 AM.
At 10:00 AM, children six through 13 are invited to the Simhah Room for an educational Shabbat experience filled with prayer, song, snack, discussion and games. Take a break from your week and the adults in your life, expand your network of friends and experience a kid-friendly Shabbat.
At 10:00 AM, check your children in to our Shabbat nursery for children age two through five. Located in the lower level Playtime Nursery, children love experiencing Shabbat and Jewish holidays with stories, games and snacks. You pray while your children play. The Shabbat Nursery is supervised by Nechama Rubenstein, an E.C.E. certified teacher.
