Mazel Tov, It's a Girl!

A Baby Naming is a ceremony to mark the naming of a baby girl. It’s a joyous event when the community welcomes a Jewish young daughter into the community of Israel.

Celebrate a Baby Naming at Beth Sholom!
Contact Ellen
ellen@bethsholom.net at the synagogue office who will guide you through arranging the date, venue and the Seudah Mitzvah following.

The Baby Naming ceremony takes place during any Torah reading service, typically on Monday, Thursday, Shabbat, Holidays and Rosh Chodesh.

If the baby naming is to take place on a weekday morning, you can either arrange to have your seudah mitzvah through Caterer's York or if there are less than 50 people attending, with the morning Minyan and catered by our in-house caterer.  (click here for in-house menu options)  If the baby naming takes place on Shabbat you can sponsor the congregational Kiddush for the congregation (click here for Kiddush menu and pricing) and up to 25 invited guests or enhance the congregational kiddush with Caterer's York.  You can also have a private catered lunch.

We are happy to accommodate members and non-members, however, only members may have their babynaming on Shabbat and Holidays.  Non-members may have their babynaming on weekday mornings.  We offer special incentives for prospective members who are having their daughter’s babynaming at Beth Sholom.
