Welcome to SholomLearning!

SholomLearning is a flexible Hebrew and Judaics School for children in JK through Grade 7.

Dear SholomLearning Parents,
I hope that this message finds you and your family in good health and spirits. As you have likely heard, and now come to realize, it seems as though this new reality of social distancing will be in our future longer than we originally thought or hoped. Of course, at this point in time, we don’t know how long that will be.
In the past few days, we have been working on shifting to an online platform for the foreseeable future. We've finalized SholomLearning Online and will be going live for classes effective this coming Monday, March 30th. Below is the information on how to access online classes when they begin.
The online platform we will be using is Zoom. Zoom is an online video conferencing software that you can download and use for free. You do not need to create a Zoom account. You just need to install the software. You can download and use the Zoom Client app on your laptop/desktop from here It is the first download link on the page. If you use Google Chrome or Firefox there is also a browser extension you can install to run the software.
You can also download it on your phone or tablet. Just search for Zoom on the Play Store for Android or the App Store on iPhone.
Tomorrow you will receive an email from your teachers with a link, and you will need to click on this link to join the Zoom class when it begins. I suggest logging into the classes 10 minutes early to give yourself time to work out any technical issues that may come up. I’ve attached the schedule of classes for the online classes for your review. For the most part, classes will coordinate with the daytime for which your child is registered for Hebrew Connections (either Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday afternoon).
Please note that JK, SK, and Grade 1 classes will not be asked to participate in Zoom classes. We have been in communication with the Jewish Day Schools, who have shared that this type of learning is not ideal for smaller children. Instead, our JK, SK and Grade 1 teachers are hard at work preparing recorded videos for students to watch at their convenience, and these teachers will also be preparing worksheets and other independent learning activities to be emailed to parents on a weekly basis. Our JK, SK, and Grade 1 teachers, as well as Fargana and Alexa, are also happy to set up FaceTime, Zoom or phone calls with any of our younger (or older) students as a way to connect! We miss you all so much!
Moreover, we have prepared hardcopy studying packages for our students to be mailed out on Friday morning. You should receive the packages early next week. The package includes some Passover materials, crafts, Hebrew books/booklets (will be used during Zoom classes), and a letter from your child’s teacher. As our new world order continues to evolve, so too shall we, delivering Jewish education and support to you and your children, in new and creative ways.
Stay safe!
Warmest Regards,
Alexa Abergel and Fargana Sarmasova
